Ernie Chen is originally from Orange County, California. In June 2011, Ernie graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Business Economics. During the ensuing summer, Ernie worked as a government affairs clerk for a bipartisan lobbying firm in Washington, D.C. This clerkship solidified his decision to pursue law.
In August 2012, Ernie moved to San Diego and attended the University of San Diego School of Law. During law school, Ernie served as an executive member of the Appellate Moot Court Board and Student Bar Association. His academic achievements include moot court brief writing awards, the Student Leader Scholarship Award, and high recognition for his pro bono work in the Civil Clinic. Outside of law school, Ernie worked as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Terry B. O’Rourke of the 4th District Court of Appeal, Division One, and the Honorable Bernard G. Skomal of the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
In May 2015, Ernie graduated from law school with a specialization in civil litigation. He subsequently worked as a post-bar law clerk for Shinnick & Ryan LLP before officially joining the firm as an associate attorney in 2016.
